What is the Educational Qualification for RRB ALP?
For the posts of RRB Assistant Loco Pilot:
- Matriculation / SSLC
- ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trades of Armature and Coil Winder / Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Fitter / Heat Engine / Instrument Mechanic / Machinist / Mechanic Diesel / Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Millwright Maintenance Mechanic / Mechanic Radio & TV / Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic / Tractor Mechanic / Turner / Wireman
OR
- Matriculation / SSLC
- Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above
OR
- 3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering
OR
- Combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognized Institution in lieu of ITI.
Candidates with degrees in the Engineering disciplines mentioned above can also apply.
For the posts of RRB Technician:
- Matriculation / SSLC
- ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade
OR
- Matriculation / SSLC
- Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade
Age Limit
A candidate’s Age must be between 18 to 28 years.

Selection Process
RRB Assistant Loco Pilot:
The selection of Candidates for RRB Assistant Loco Pilot is made in four phases:
- CBT I
- CBT II
- Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Document Verification
RRB Technician:
The selection of Candidates for RRB Technician is made in three phases:
- CBT I
- CBT II
- Document Verification
A candidate to clear the Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician Exam must score minimum qualifying marks that have been decided by the Board to move into the next phase. When a candidate has cleared each of all phases, he/she will get a job based on the merit list.
Exam Pattern
The examination will consist of THREE Phases:

RRB ALP Stage 1 Exam Pattern
Stage 1 examination will consist of one objective type multiple choice paper containing 75 questions carrying 75 marks.

RRB ALP Stage 3 Exam Pattern
RRB ALP Stage 3 Exam will be conducted only for those candidates who will clear Stage 1 and Stage 2 Exam.
Note: Only the Assistant Loco-Pilot aspirants are required to attend this test.
Salary
The selected candidates for the posts of Assistant Loco Pilot and Technicians salary will be Level 2 of the Pay Matrix Level 2, with an initial pay scale of INR 19,900 along with other allowances:
- House Rent Allowance (HRA)
- Dearness Allowance (DA)
- Running Allowance (Based on the km traveled)
- Transport Allowance
- New Pension Scheme (10% Deduction) etc,

STEP 5: Pay the Examination Fee by debit/credit card and net banking and print the Confirmation page for record and future reference.
